My Ala Moana Experience
My Time at Nordstrom
Working at Nordstrom at Ala Moana Center gave me a special connection to one of Oahu’s most iconic shopping destinations. During my two and a half years there, I experienced the center from a different perspective—not just as a place to shop, but as a place where people work, connect, and create memorable experiences. I got to know the atmosphere of Ala Moana, the variety of stores and restaurants, and the many visitors who come through its doors. My time at Nordstrom gave me firsthand experience that I’m excited to share with visitors who want to discover and enjoy Ala Moana Center.

The Waikiki location is particularly convenient if you're staying in the heart of Waikiki, while the Ala Moana store is an easy addition to a full day of shopping at one of Oahu's largest shopping centers. If you're exploring the west side of the island, the Ka Makana Aliʻi location in Kapolei is a convenient option.

If you're visiting Oahu from outside the local area, be sure to ask about the Macy’s Visitor Savings Pass. Macy’s has offered a visitor savings program providing 10% off many eligible purchases, subject to qualifying identification and exclusions.

Marshalls
Marshalls, great brands and great prices.
If you're looking for great brands without paying full retail prices, Marshalls is definitely worth adding to your Oahu shopping list. Marshalls is an off-price retailer owned by The TJX Companies, the same company behind TJ Maxx.
There are currently two Marshalls locations on Oahu, including stores at Ala Moana Center and Kapolei Commons, making it convenient whether you're staying in Waikiki or exploring the west side of the island.
Just like Ross Dress for Less and TJ Maxx, Marshalls is known for offering brand-name merchandise at significantly reduced prices. What you find can vary from visit to visit, which is part of the fun — you never quite know what bargain you'll discover.
Depending on the store and what's in stock, you can browse a wide selection of clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, beauty products, luggage, homewares and more for the whole family.
Why Shop at Marshalls?
If you're travelling to Hawaii on a budget, Marshalls can be a great place to look for bargains. You may find well-known brands at prices considerably lower than traditional department stores, making it possible to pick up something special without blowing your vacation budget.
It's also worth checking Marshalls if you've forgotten something for your trip. Whether you need another outfit, beachwear, shoes, luggage or a few items for the hotel, you may be able to find what you need at a great price.
Tip: Inventory changes frequently, so if you see something you love at a great price, don't assume it will still be there on your next visit. Part of the Marshalls experience is finding those unexpected bargains!
